Is it a "Ha ha, I'm going to Heaven and you're not, nah nah nah"? (insert whiny sing-song tone). Is it "I hate you and your flawed theology and you deserve to go straight to hell"? Or is it "you don't believe exactly how I believe and so guess where you'll be and I won't!!?"? Or is it just funny to them? If they really believe that someone's soul will be eternally damned to hell, why are they so excited about it? Why is it something to be proudly displayed to all your Facebook "friends". Why is it "GREAT NEWS" ?
I mean I swear, I have really thought about this. I have thought, would Jesus do this or say this? Is this how he expects his followers to behave? I have wanted to reply things like...harsh, wow, unreal, nice, very Christ-like, shame on you, etc.
I mean "GREAT NEWS", what does this mean? "I am soooo glad you won't be in Heaven with me (cause I'm not perfect, just forgiven)". What are they taking God out of that you are so upset about, what part of your perfect little life is so upside down now that you want to post this? Are you not allowed to worship where you want, have Bible studies, small groups, potlucks, sing-ins, wear Christian t-shirts, bumper stickers...I mean what has changed?
And if it is pure sarcasm, is this something that we need to be that sarcastic about. Sometime I think people just don't think. With all the hype of "taking our country back" and all the "anyone not like me must be evil" that is going on, it is easy to fall into that mind-set.
This is not seeking justice or mercy, and it sure isn't walking humbly with your God.
